This policy explains how The Ruby Awareness Initiative Foundation ("we", "the organisers") collects and uses personal data through this website for Delta Youth Carnival 2026. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
Who is responsible
The Ruby Awareness Initiative Foundation is the data controller for personal data collected on this website. You can contact us about your data on +234 903 375 4922.
What we collect
Attendees: first and last name, gender (optional), age range, state of residence, local government area, city or community, phone number and email address. Social media usernames, how you heard about the carnival and whether you attended before are optional.
Attendees under 18: the name and phone number of a parent or guardian, and confirmation that they agree to the registration.
Vendors: business name, category, description and location; the representative's name, phone, WhatsApp number and email; business social media and website; products, space, electricity and equipment needs; any photos or documents you upload.
Technical data: a scrambled (hashed) version of your network address to prevent spam and duplicate submissions, and a session cookie that keeps the form working. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
We don't ask for sensitive data such as health, religion or political views, and you shouldn't include it in free-text fields.
Why we use it, and on what basis
- To manage your registration or vendor application: planning numbers, safety and logistics, confirming registrations at the venue, and reviewing vendor applications. Basis: your consent, given when you submit the form.
- To contact you about this year's carnival, including confirmations and changes to the date, time or venue. Basis: your consent.
- To tell you about future editions and related activities, only if you ticked the optional box. You can withdraw this at any time without affecting your registration.
- To produce anonymous statistics, such as how many people registered from each LGA. These reports don't identify anyone.
We keep a record of each consent you give (what you agreed to and when).
Who can see your data
Only authorised members of the organising team, through a password-protected dashboard. We may share limited details with event security, the venue or service providers only where needed to run the carnival safely, and with authorities where the law requires it. We don't sell personal data. We never publish registration records.
Our website host and, if used, our email provider process data on our behalf under their own security commitments.
How long we keep it
We keep registration and vendor records for up to 12 months after the carnival, then delete them. If you opted in to hear about future events, we keep your name and contact details for that purpose until you opt out. Consent records may be kept as long as needed to show we had your agreement.
How we protect it
The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). The registration database and uploaded documents are not publicly accessible. Admin access is password-protected, limited by role, and logged.
Your rights
Under the NDPA you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a copy, and withdraw your consent at any time. Contact us on +234 903 375 4922 with your registration ID. We'll respond within the time the law requires. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Children
Young people under 18 can only register with a parent or guardian's agreement. A parent or guardian can contact us to review or delete a young person's registration.
Third-party content
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Embedded videos load from YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode only when you choose to play them.
